Office Ergonomic Assessments:

•Are conducted by an occupational therapist (OT) with training in office ergonomic assessments.

•The OT is advanced training in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.

•Purpose of the assessment is to adjust the workstation for an individual in order to minimize the element that is causing stain or injury.

•Through education the employee involved will be better able to prevent future injury or reduce exacerbation of an injury.

Benefit of an Ergonomic Assessment:

✓Identify factors that promote a healthy workplace
✓A healthy workplace can enable an injured employee to return to work sooner
✓Minimize the amount of time required off work due to an injury

An on-site assessment involves;

✓Learning about an employee’s presenting issues
✓Assessing the workplace, and reviewing employee positioning
✓Identify contributing factors
✓Reviewing recommendations

  • A formal report accompanies the on-site assessment
  • Education is a main focus during the assessment
