Orthoses for Mobilization Course – June 8, 2013
ByOn Saturday, June 8th, 2013 at 8:00am to 5:00pm, Hand Network OT Services, and Arm More Therapy will present “Orthoses for Mobilization”. This event will be held at the Hamilton General Hospital, 237 Barton St., E., Hamilton, ON.

Course Outline;
7:30 am Registration
8 am to 5 pm Full Day Course
Splinting Program includes both lecture and hands on lab time!
Lecture: “Principles of Mobilization Splinting”.
Lab: Demonstration and fabrication of 4-5 of the following orthoses:
- Dorsal Wrist Orthosis with Orfitube Outriggers (Dynamic)
- Finger Extension Assist Orthosis with coils (Dynamic)
- Composite Finger Flexion Orthosis (Static Progressive)
- Wrist Flexion/Extension (Static progressive)
Instructor:
Debby Schwartz, OTD, OTR/L, CHT
Product and Educational Specialist, Physical Rehabilitation
Debby Schwartz, OTD, OTR/L, CHT is a certified hand therapist with over 27 years of experience in the hand therapy field. She works for Orfit Industries America to promote product awareness and splinting education. Debby is an active member of ASHT and has participated in IFSHT meetings as well. She has presented on a variety of hand therapy topics both at national and international conferences. Debby has written a number of articles for hand therapy publications, including a recent literature review of static progressive orthoses. Debby has recently earned her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy and authored three chapters for books related to hand therapy.
